PiP Academy
Launching Fall of 2020, PiP Academy will aim to provide children with safe socialization and enrichment amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This program is led by NYS certified teachers, who place an emphasis on fostering: mindfulness, social-emotional learning, creativity, safety, and (most importantly) FUN! It is most appropriate for pre-school — third grade students.
We will supplement any students participating in hybrid learning with various activities that include:
Music Class
Literacy
Yoga and meditation
Arts and crafts
Outdoor play
Each day will begin with a morning meeting that sets daily expectations for students and their work, followed by an opportunity to check-in with their feelings and discuss anything that is on their minds.
We will also be working on:
Fine motor skills/gross motor skills
Processing anger and other emotions
Speaking kindly to themselves and others
Understanding proper nutrition
Embracing inner strength
Creating, painting, reading and writing
What will you learn at PiP Academy?
The exchange is $125 per day. Opportunities to add on tutoring to support you in your homeschooling journey are available. Details for this package are still in the works. Please note that because of COVID-19, a one month commitment is required to limit student turnover.
*Please note the following precautions we are taking amidst Covid-19: our size will be limited to a maximum of 8 students throughout the fall; there will always be a second teacher so we are aligned with our goal of maintaining a 4:1 ratio; we will be checking everyone’s temperature (including staff) upon entry; we will be outdoors as much as possible, and doing small group activities in the garden behind our studio; and the entire studio will be cleaned with Clorox/Lysol nightly.
“Our story with PiP began with summer camp. We had heard about PiP from friends, and we decided to give PiP a try. Aaaand it turned out that it was one of the best decisions of 2020! By the end of camp, our guy was happier, more confident, and very in tune with his emotions!!
Fast forward to us preparing for Kindergarten’s hybrid set up (1 wk at school, 1 wk remote), with both of us working, and no programs that fit our needs, we were in full panic mode. Katie sensed my panic, and we started chatting. In time for first day of school, Katie had set up a program for distance learners that met all our needs and more!
For us, PiP has become a safe haven, a school, and that “village” from the old saying “it takes a village”! Katie has made sure that PiP was able to adapt and respond to our community’s needs, and for that I am so grateful. A true Piermont treasure!”
“In case there are still some families looking for a learning situation for their young children, I wanted to share our fantastic preschool-like experience at Peace in Piermont (PIP). Katie, of PIP transformed our 3-year-old’s psychosocial development when she stepped in amidst the Covid chaos and developed a preschool experience in her Yoga studio this summer. Using her Master’s of childhood education and her experience as a children’s yoga instructor, she created an incredible curriculum. This experience combines lessons of socializing, language development and art, with pillars of yoga, including meditation, introspection, and physical yoga exercises/poses. After school we hear all about the “turtle pose” that our son learned, as well as his favorite thing about himself: “I like that I am slow.” We’ve learned so much about our son from Katie’s reports, that it enriches our own playtime with him at home. He’s even taught daddy to do the turtle pose!
I cannot say enough about this educational experience. Katie maintains a 2:1 student: teacher ratio, and blends children ages from 3-5 years old which has been wonderful. We hope that her small and thoughtful program continues to thrive.””
“We are so grateful for Peace In Piermont and the PIP academy that our 3 year old is currently attending. He is doing yoga, meditation, art and literacy. The environment seems nurturing with wonderful teachers! Lots of outdoor and creative play too! We love Katie, who runs the program. And our little 3 year old could not be happier to attend “school” there. He comes home happy and healthy everyday!!!”
