Grateful for You

2019 was a year that will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was the year PiP opened its first studio! Eleven months prior to opening the door of 458 Piermont Avenue, I spent three days a week teaching from our living room… which meant constantly cleaning and getting creative with ways to roll/push/manipulate all of the furniture into our kitchen! It was a humble beginning that I will never forget and will always think of when I quickly and easily set up for classes in the new space.

Since opening on August first, we have had the honor of meeting, working with, and teaching hundreds of new people in the community.

Highlights from our journey thus far include:

1.     Launching several adult yoga and fitness classes, as well as a free weekly meditation

2.      Raising over $1,000 for Michelle’s Hearts + Healing; a charitable foundation that raises funds and collects art supplies for infusion centers to help ease patient's nerves while undergoing treatments

3.     Supporting over twenty other small businesses at our monthly Artisan Pop-Up Markets and in our studio’s new retail wall

4.     Fostering community and emotional support at our monthly women’s circle (free of cost; first Thursday of each month from 8:00-9:30pm)

A few fond memories –

1.     A boy at Camp PiP having a mini meltdown on Piermont Avenue after over hearing someone say that Spiderman isn’t real. His new friends at camp quickly began to console him, along with two passersby who stopped to talk to him. A teenage boy told him that Spiderman is absolutely real and that he saw him fighting crime a few weeks ago. An older woman explained that not only is he real but that her son had the privilege of filming Spiderman in 2002 and that she met him herself. Not only did the tears stop, but our little friend walked around that day with more confidence than ever that Spiderman does exist and keeps the streets of Piermont safe!

2.     One of the producers of The Sinner series knocking on our door to explain that some of our campers were sticking out their tongue at the actors, and while they found it hilarious, their parents would need to sign a consent and release form or we’d need to close our curtains!

3.     A six-year-old girl at Camp PiP sharing to the group, “we meditate so we’re less crazy. It makes us feel calmer and reminds us that we have a lot to be grateful for.”

4.     A four-year-old girl saying, “we meditate to make our mind strong. It is a powerful muscle and we need to train it.”

What we’re looking forward to in 2020:

1.     Growing our community via classes, workshops, and mixers

2.     Providing new ways of supporting local entrepreneurs

3.     Hosting several charitable fundraisers for local non-profits

4.     Publishing the first book from a series called Give Your Brain A Bath! The book series aims to teach kids, and humans of all sizes, how meditate and why we mediate. Coming February 2020!

If you or someone you know would like to host a charitable fundraiser or if there is a particular class, workshop, and/or program you’d like to see offered at PiP, please reach out and email any ideas or suggestions to hello@peaceinpiermont.com!

Wishing you and your loved ones all the best in 2020! Thank you for your love and support.

Lots of love + gratitude,
